"Phi-natic" Phi Nu Zeta Chapter History

“Phi-natic” Phi Nu Zeta Graduate Chapter, based in Florissant, Missouri, was chartered on February 11, 2008. The chartering ceremony took place at the 2008 Midwestern Regional Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The presiding officers of the charter were Missouri State Director, Soror Samantha Hughes and Midwestern Regional Director, Soror Antoinette Gordon. All charter members and several witnesses were present. The chartering ceremony, overseen by the distinguished presiding officers, Soror Samantha Hughes and Soror Antoinette Gordon marked the official inception of Phi Nu Zeta Graduate Chapter. Among the witnesses present were not only the charter members but also the promise of a future steeped in service and sisterhood.

These women wanted to be a part of a chapter that embraced every principle established by our Founders, while continuously pushing the progression of the sorority through modern and innovative ideals.

It was at this time, the chapter coined itself “Phi-natic” Phi Nu Zeta. Phi-natic, based on the word fanatic, is defined as “extravagantly or unreasonably zealously; excessively enthusiastic”. These women felt that this was the perfect word to describe their enthusiasm for the work and the effort they were prepared to put in to make the chapter a success.

Phi Nu Zeta's Mission Statement

To be civically engaged within the areas of Florissant, Missouri and Saint Louis Metropolitan by fostering social, educational, political and cultural activities for the promotion of healthy living through the spirit of "Scholarship, Service, Sisterhood, and Finer Womanhood" and to further advance Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.

Since its establishment, Phi Nu Zeta has been an active participant in a myriad of cultural, political, and community-minded events. From CHIPS Run/Walk to Nurses for Newborns, Run/Walk for Juvenile Diabetes, and beyond, our chapter has left an indelible mark on various causes. Initiatives such as supporting Presidential Election Voters’ Registration, Spring into Wellness, Susan G.
